Manufacturing Operations Supervisor

Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 annually

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Operations Supervisor to lead and coordinate production activities on an assigned shift within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, equipment reliability, and employee development while ensuring operational goals are consistently achieved.

The ideal candidate will provide hands-on leadership, support continuous improvement initiatives, oversee preventative maintenance efforts, and maintain a strong focus on operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Leadership

  • Lead daily production operations to meet safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency objectives.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop production personnel on assigned shift.
  • Establish priorities and communicate daily and weekly operational goals.
  • Monitor workflow and staffing to ensure optimal performance.
  • Promote accountability and maintain high performance standards.

Safety & Quality

  • Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and correct workplace hazards.
  • Lead root cause investigations related to safety, quality, and production issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and quality standards.
  • Support internal and external audits and corrective action initiatives.

Equipment & Maintenance

  • Coordinate preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Monitor equipment performance and prioritize repair activities.
  • Partner with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive process improvements that enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain housekeeping and organizational standards throughout the facility.

Team Development

  • Train, mentor, and evaluate employees to ensure successful performance.
  • Support onboarding and development of new team members.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Quality, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Operations Management is a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of production supervision experience in a manufacturing environment with an Associate degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of manufacturing leadership experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience leading production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems, CMMS platforms, and production management software preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct supervision of production personnel, including:

  • Machine Operators
  • Material Handlers
  • Maintenance Personnel
  • Mechanics
  • Tool & Die Personnel
  • Electricians

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods.
  • Occasional climbing, bending, reaching, squatting, and working in awkward positions.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
