Position Summary
Are you someone who thrives on organization, problem-solving, and keeping moving pieces aligned? This role is ideal for a highly organized professional who enjoys solving logistical challenges in real time while supporting field operations and customer service.
As a Dispatcher, you will oversee scheduling and dispatch-related activities for a team of field technicians within a designated territory. You’ll coordinate service appointments, optimize routing and scheduling, communicate directly with customers, and ensure technicians are assigned effectively based on skill set, availability, and geography.
This position offers a hybrid/remote work setup but candidates must live within a commutable distance to one of the operational locations.
Typical schedule is Monday–Friday during standard business hours. No evenings, weekends, or holidays required.
Core Responsibilities
Scheduling Management
- Ensure technicians maintain a full schedule of work aligned with business needs and operating hours.
- Utilize routing and scheduling tools to maximize technician productivity and reduce travel time.
- Communicate with customers regarding appointment scheduling, updates, and rescheduling needs.
- Monitor schedules throughout the day to minimize missed appointments and optimize workload distribution.
- Assign additional work in real time when technician capacity becomes available.
- Track scheduled work through completion, including technician status updates and required documentation.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce rework.
- Participate in standardizing and improving scheduling and dispatch procedures.
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures related to scheduling and dispatch operations.
Reporting & Analysis
- Review KPI performance metrics and adjust daily activities to support operational goals.
- Identify and communicate opportunities to improve technician productivity and job completion rates.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in dispatching, scheduling, routing, logistics, customer coordination, or similar operations-focused roles
- Experience supporting field service industries such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, facilities services, safety services, pest control, emergency response, or related environments preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound decision-making ability
- Process-oriented mindset with a focus on operational efficiency and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Experience supporting commercial service operations
- Experience working in standardized or process-driven operational environments
- Familiarity with field service software, dispatch systems, or routing technologies
