Aircraft Power Plant/Engine Mechanic

 
The Power Plant Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the aircraft engine, the auxiliary power unit, the secondary power and airframe-related systems for the Customer.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Install, remove, replace, service, adjust and troubleshoot turbojet engines (F-404-GE-400/402), auxiliary power unit (APU), secondary power, fuel system, anti-icing, pneumatic and related components.
2. Inspecting and repairing powerplant, secondary power system, fuel and airframe-related system components for cracks, corrosion, distortion, security, warping, wear and foreign object damage. 3. Perform hourly, calendar, phase and conditional inspections as required by maintenance requirement cards.
Required educational/skills background:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Level II –Fiveyears experience as a Power Plant Mechanic. (CDI experience)
3. Must be qualified as a plane captain.
4. Capable of operating support equipment.
5. Working knowledge of the OPNAVINST 4790.2H.
6. Knowledge of Naval maintenance publications and maintenance requirement card.
7. Ability to document maintenance utilizing the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS).
8. Training in Basic Aviation, Aviation Machinist Mate (AD), Class A1 (Aviation Machinist Mate – Jet Engine), and F/A-18 Power Plants and related systems organizational maintenance of equivalent. (F-404-GE-400/402)
9. Ability to troubleshoot engineer, APU, secondary power and airframe-related systems.
10. Use color-coded charts of aircraft plumbing.
11. Interpret schematic diagrams.
12. Interpret applicable technical data.
13. Use and care of power tools, test equipment, and precision measuring devices in the maintenance and repair of aircraft.
