Location: Melbourne, FL
Compensation: $38,000.00 plus full medical benefits, 401k

Primary Objective of Position

Supports the development and sustainment of optimal, cost-effective manufacturing process controls, test requirements and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; coordinates with the Manufacturing Engineer to improve manufacturing efficiency via the product design, fabrication, assembly, testing, tooling, and materials; conferring with Equipment Vendors, Contract Manufactures and Design Engineers. Works closely with Manufacturing to support shipment schedules and deadlines. Involved with continuous improvement teams, Lean Manufacturing, 8-D root cause/corrective actions, AS9001 directives, etc.

Education and Experience
 
Basic Qualifications
  • Associates degree or two-year technical degree/BSEET in Electronics Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7 years of work experience in Optoelectronics Test a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Previous fiber optic experience 
 
Job Responsibilities
 
Technical Job Functions
  • Test equipment operational duties, troubleshooting product issues, and performs testing on critical products that requires technical competence.  
  • Review manufacturing processes and implement cost effective improvements focusing on set-up and cycle time reductions and equipment uptime on a continual basis.
  • Analyze and reduce scrap and rework; identify reasons for scrap, implement corrective actions to reduce and monitor results.
  • Support new product development 
  • Identifies and assists in procuring proficient tools, fixtures, and equipment for manufacturing.
  • Generate and administer manufacturing bills of materials, work instructions and specifications.
  • Work closely with Design Engineers to transition newly developed parts into production with a focus on design for manufacturability.
  • Assists in improving a system of production control, SOP, safety, quality control and training.
  • Assist with product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and improved efficiency.
  • Works with Contract Manufactures with respect to deploying products for high volume manufacturing, providing solutions for test and assembly problems.
  • Trains the manufacturing workforce on Test Operations and complex assembly processes.
  • Expectation to implement and deploy Lean Manufacturing disciplines and philosophies as a tool for process flows, cost and cycle time reductions.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of Operation via Oscilloscopes, DVM, multimeters, bit error rate testers, spectrum analyzers, optical attenuators, etc.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting PCBAs, power supplies, ect.
  • Knowledge of ESD dissipative protocols
  • Ability to implement new technologies or methods as needed.
  • Ability to hold sensitive data and information in confidence.
  • Ability to understand and implement AS9100, ISO and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Ability to operate equipment and use tools and techniques effectively, efficiently and in accordance with ergonomic principles. Performs minor set-ups/adjustments.
  • Proficiency in software as required; ability to perform math calculations, measurement, analysis or reporting as directed.
  • Ability to comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand DOD and government standards.
