Manufacturing Engineering Technician - 2nd Shift: 2:30pm - 11pm

Job Responsibilities

SUMMARY: 2nd shift position. Troubleshoot, set up of production and testing processes for Manufacturing Operations. This includes sustaining test operations and knowledge of Bit Error Rate Testers, DCA modules, attenuators, power supplies, optical light meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, DVMs. Knowledge of optical test methodologies, performs auto/manual test processes, repairs to production tooling to improve production capabilities with respect to quality control compliance
Technical Job Functions
  • 2nd Shift position, ensuring equipment uptime and troubleshooting test station problems
  • Utilizing existing testing operations and supporting production tooling.
  • Set up test stations for engineering evaluation. Set up automated test stations for manufacturing.
  • Set up optical test benches to measure performance characteristics of optical subassemblies and custom O/E modules. This includes performing testing operations for production and new unreleased applications.
  • Prepares test processes for product transfer from R&D to production.
  • Oversee production plans are met on 2nd shift, assists with planning schedules, and completes projects on time and according to the specified performance requirements and costs.
  • Implementing lean manufacturing principles at all levels.
  • Interfaces with Production and Manufacturing Engineering concerning new product designs and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Assist MFG Engineer with production cycle times and ensures routings are correct and sustainable.
  • Responsible for overseeing product failures and deciding root cause and recovery options.
  • Ensures manufacturing documentation for assembly and test processes are available.
  • Responsible for all sustaining up time for manufacturing equipment, test equipment and assembly tooling.
  • Will be the liaison with Production regarding test and production output.

Education and Experience
 AS Degree or training and experience equivalent.
Basic Qualifications
COMPUTER SKILLS:  Ability to learn computer programs specific to the company.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  To successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job, the employee must be able to perform intermediate mathematical functions.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:  To successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to read and comprehend detailed information, correspondence, and memorandums.   Must have the ability to communicate both in writing and verbally.
REASONING ABILITY:  The employee must have the ability to exercise good judgment in relationship to the work environment.
