Test Technician

Location: Melbourne, FL, United States
Conducts, as directed, test and data collections activities in support of the development of technologies, products, and processes, to meet cost, schedule and performance requirements of the customer, in accordance with ISO and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  1. Utilizes basic test equipment including, but not limited to, power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, Bit Error Rate Testers, Optical Attenuators, Light Meters, Power Supplies, function generators and analyzers to test and troubleshoot assemblies.
  2. Conducts tests of new components, assembles and systems based on test criteria as established by policies and procedures and/or written test plans; maintains accurate records of test results and reports results to appropriate development and testing.
  3. Provides technical support for existing products to assist in the solution of design-related performance, production and field problems.
  4. Prepares prototypes of components assembles of either new or current product as directed by policies and procedures and/or written test plans or work requests. Ensures that the prototypes meet established specifications.
  5. Applies working knowledge of applicable technology and industry/company standards to investigate new technologies, methods and test procedures.
  6. Establishes and maintains positive, productive working relationships within assigned teams and with all applicable departments, customers and vendors.
  7. Assists in project scheduling and reports status per established schedules.
  1. Provide high quality, on-time products to meet customer requirements.            
  2. Assume other projects and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
  3. Reports to Manufacturing Supervisor.  Has contact with internal and external customers and co-workers.
  4. Work with Production, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Quality personnel. May interact with customers, vendors and other functional groups on occasion.
  5. Operates a variety of equipment to assemble products.  Produces products to conform to engineering drawings assembly documentation and quality required.  Performs minor set-ups/adjustments.
  6. Makes daily independent and team decisions relating to new product programs and design projects. Has influence on manufacturing operations as related to production, schedule and product performance.
  7. Employee is responsible for the generation, labeling, storage, and other general management of hazardous waste.  Employee requires “Hazardous Waste Management Training” once per year in accordance with Minn. R. 7045.0292
  8. Regular and predictable attendance is presumed to be an essential function of all employment.
  • Associates Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires 2-5 years of experience in the field or related area.
  • Previous fiber optic assembly experience preferred.
  • May be required to complete formal training in area of specialty.
