Our client is one of the largest, privately held Customs brokers in North America. Their nationwide service centers are located at major air and vessel ports 
along the US/Canada border and are complemented by a global partnership network to facilitate the movement of cargo throughout their primary markets of North America, Europe, and the Pacific Rim.

Title: Route Development - Account Manager
Location: Chelsea, MA 
Compensation: TBD - Based on Experience

Job Responsibilities:
  • Achieves corporate international transportation sales’ goals as set forth in the annual appraisal.
  • Develops and retains a network of first class agents and carriers.
  • Drives business to and from designated agents.
  • Creates new systems of transporting cargo between our service areas and assigned route development areas.
  • Develops competitive rate structures with agents and carriers.
  • Makes domestic and foreign sales calls with agents, carriers, and Deringer salespeople to develop new or maintain current business.
  • Obtains new national and international type accounts, and maintains and grows our current base of those accounts.
  • Attends trade shows, special events, and seminars to obtain new business, sales leads, and to network with industry leaders from international accounts.
  • Maintains and updates the SalesLogix database pertaining to all sales and sold plan activities under their jurisdiction according to established timelines.
  • Works with branches to solve operational problems that might arise between us, our agents and carriers.
  • Assists in training operations and sales people in our services and all aspects of the specific route development trade routes.
  • Acts as the service owner for assigned route development area and assumes accountability for development of the route.
  • Participates in carrier service contract negotiations along with our agents.
  • Extensive travel (approximately 80-90 overnight stays per year) required throughout North America and assigned route development area. 
  • Stays up-to-date on all Deringer services, industry/competitor changes, and changes in the area of international logistics, which may include various educational certification programs.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge and Skills:
Desire and ability to learn sales.  Must be a driver, goal oriented individual, very adept at prospecting.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Knowledge of international import/export freight and brokerage business.  Strong computer skills (i.e. Microsoft’s suite of products, CRM).  Willingness to sign a non-compete/non-disclosure agreement.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics or International Trade and Commerce with three years of industry experience and a minimum of five years of sales experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Bilingual – dependent on route development area (i.e. Chinese, French, Spanish).
